My boy cat has OCD. It sounds funny but it's actually really upsetting. Gav came in this morning to find him growling and attacking his tail - which he'd gnawed into a bloody tip, right down to the bone. Fortunately it was only the tip, he caught him before he could do too much damage. We managed to bandage him up with a combination of micropore tape, non-adhesive dressings, tubegauze and a finger cot, and he's also sporting a buster collar to further deter him from damaging himself. I don't know when we're going to get him in at the vets for medication (apparently 0.5mg fluoxetine is effective in treating feline OCD) so hopefully what we're doing will suffice for a few days at least.

I just wish I knew what had brought it on. He's always been a 'clean freak' - washing and grooming himself to excess, but he's never gone this far before. If the baby was here I could perhaps understand it, but there's been no upheaval or change since we moved, and he coped fine with that. But who really knows what goes on in the mind of a cat...
